Fifth Harmony ‘Humbled’ by First Billboard Hot 100 Top 10 Hit: Exclusive

All five members of 5H thank their "amazing fans and everyone who has supported" them, as "Work From Home" rises 12-10 on the Hot 100.

As previously reported, Fifth Harmony earns its first top 10 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 this week (on the chart dated April 16), as “Work From Home,” featuring Ty Dolla $ign, lifts 12-10.

It turns out Harmonizers aren’t the only ones celebrating the achievement: Fifth Harmony is too.

“It’s so amazing!” 5H’s Camila Cabello beamed to Billboard in an exclusive statement from the group. “We feel great about it and we are so humbled and appreciative of our amazing fans and everyone who has supported us, our label [Epic Records] and the terrific writers and producers who contributed to this project.”

‘Work’ Week: Rihanna Tops Hot 100 for Seventh Week, Fifth Harmony Earns First Top 10 Hit

“Work From Home” previews Fifth Harmony’s second full-length album, 7/27, due May 20.

“I’m still so blown away by the reaction it’s gotten and now it being our first top 10 hit!” added Fifth Harmony’s Normani Kordei. “We’re so lucky to have such incredible fans and I’m so happy they are loving the song!”

“Honestly, it feels so surreal!” said the group’s Dinah Jane Hansen. “We’ve been working so, so hard over the past few years, and to have our first top 10 hit is amazing. It’s definitely a good hint of what’s to come for us too: the direction of the album, our sound. The fact that people are responding so well is really exciting and we feel really lucky!”

Formed on Fox’s The X Factor under the mentorship of Simon Cowell in 2012 (on July 27 that year, to be exact, spurring the new album’s title), Fifth Harmony is the first finalist from the show (which aired from September 2011 through December 2013) to hit the Hot 100’s top 10. (Notably, three other acts that competed on the series — Alex & Sierra, Emblem3 and Bea Miller — have, like 5H, reached the Billboard 200 album chart’s top 10.)

Fifth Harmony Renamed ‘Work From Home’ to Avoid Rihanna Confusion

“Work From Home” is additionally the first Hot 100 top 10 by a girl group since The Pussycat Dolls‘ “When I Grow Up,” which hit No. 9 back in 2008. “Yeah! Girl Power!” Fifth Harmony’s Ally Brooke Hernandez rejoiced. “Seriously, we always try to be positive and really believe in building women up and supporting each other. To be able to be such positive figures, and have such success as women in music, it’s truly empowering. And, to see that we are doing things and getting accolades that only a few handful of women before us have been blessed to receive, that’s so humbling.

“All we can do is appreciate everything we have and keep working hard.”

Making the celebration unanimous, 5H’s Lauren Jauregui agreed. “It’s always been so important to us to spread the message of women being strong and powerful and going after the things they want, all while supporting other women as they do the same rather than tearing them down and turning it into a competition,” she said.

“To know that this achievement puts us in a category with other amazing women that we’ve looked up to is an honor, and we hope that it continues to remind people that no dream is too big to go after.”
