Justin Bieber No. 1 on Billboard Artist 100; Kanye West & Lukas Graham Soar to Top 5
Bieber moves ahead of Adele for the second-most total weeks on top. Plus, West vaults 66-3 and Lukas Graham leaps 11-5.
Justin Bieber is the top musical act in the U.S., returning to the No. 1 rank on the Billboard Artist 100 chart (dated April 23) and leading the list for an 11th total week.
The Artist 100 measures artist activity across Billboard‘s most influential charts, including the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart, Top Album Sales and the Social 50. The Artist 100 blends data measuring album and track sales, radio airplay, streaming and social media fan interaction to provide a weekly multi-dimensional ranking of artist popularity.

With his 11th cumulative week atop the Artist 100, Bieber passes Adele for the second-most total frames spent at the summit. Here’s an updated look at the acts with the most time on top since the Artist 100 launched in July 2014:

Bieber rebounds 2-1 on the Artist 100 (despite a 2 percent dip in overall activity), with social reaction marking his greatest points contributor (32 percent), narrowly outperforming radio airplay (28 percent).
Drake darts 6-2 on the Artist 100, up by 41 percent in overall action, as two new tracks of his debut on Digital Songs: “Pop Style,” featuring The Throne, aka Jay Z and Kanye West (No. 1, 128,000 sold, according to Nielsen Music), and “One Dance,” featuring WizKid and Kyla (No. 4, 104,000), as digital song sales account for Drake’s greatest share of Artist 100 points (41 percent).

Speaking of Kanye West, he blasts 66-3 on the Artist 100 (up 522 percent), hitting a new peak, and the top 10 for the first time, in his 43rd week on the chart (after previously reaching No. 12). Streaming marks 68 percent of West’s Artist 100 points, as his new album The Life of Pablo debuts at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 largely due to streaming (while entering Top Album Sales at No. 6).

Rihanna drops 3-4 on the Artist 100, and Lukas Graham enters the top tier, vaulting 11-5 (up 58 percent). Album sales lead the way for the Danish pop band (supplying 40 percent of its Artist 100 points), as the act’s self-titled album enters the Billboard 200 at No. 3 (59,000 equivalent album units) and Top Album Sales at No. 4 (34,000 in pure album sales). The set is fueled in large part by hit single “7 Years,” which holds at its No. 2 high on the Hot 100; digital song sales contribute Lukas Graham’s second-highest Artist 100 points share (28 percent).
