EDM continues to make its mark at the Grammy Awards, and one producer thinks it’s ready for “the big room.”
“We’re selling more tickets than any other artists out there,” Kaskade, a nominee for the Best Dance/Electronica Album Grammy during the pre-telecast awards, said backstage on Sunday, adding the ceremony should be “including us in the prime time.”
However, Kaskade, who headlined Staples Center in July, had praise for the progress the Grammys have made so far in the electronic arena. Skrillex, a big winner in 2012 as well, represented for the genre with three awards during the pre-telecast on Sunday, including Best Dance/Electronica Album for “Bangarang.”
“The Grammys have embraced us and are figuring out ways to include us, this year better than ever,” Kaskade acknowledged. “The categories had some great artists in it and it was representational of what’s happening in my world.”
As for the presence of Al Walser among the nominees, a nod that confused many in the electronic world, Kaskade — a Grammy voter himself — said, “It just felt very forced. No one was aware of who he was.”

With album “Fire & Ice” easing into the rearview, Kaskade is looking ahead toward his next release. The title-TBA album will be released in “late spring, early summer,” he said.
