Rapper 6 Dogs has passed away at the age of just 21, his reps have confirmed.
The Atlanta, Georgia native had a string of breakthrough releases in his teens, including the 2017 single “Faygo Dreams,” which has passed 100 million streams on Spotify and notched more than 15 million views on YouTube.
While studying at high school, 6 Dogs (real name Chase Amick) got attention when he uploaded several on SoundCloud, with his track “Flossing” going viral. The youngster’s folks had no idea of their son’s secretive music career.
In interviews, he spoke candidly about his battles with depression, and he would explore mental health issues and other heavy issues in his songs. As the years passed, the themes of those songs became darker.
A statement on 6 Dogs’ official Instagram confirms his untimely death.
Born in Dahlonega in the Peach State, Chase always “relished insightful conversations, intriguing possibilities, and interacting with others to positively influence their lives,” reads a statement on his Instagram. “Countless people have expressed that he impacted the course of their lives forever.”

In his lifetime, 6 Dogs released three EPs and LPs, the most recent, Hi-Hats & Heartaches from 2019. According to reports, he died late January, though no official cause of death was given.
“Chase’s memory lives on in his family, many friends, and fans who journeyed with him in this life,” the statement continues, “and now send him on his way, while awaiting a joyful reunion with him in heaven.”
