The life and career of New York Doll Sylvain Sylvain will be celebrated with a special all-star tribute featuring former band mate David Johansen, Blondie’s Debbie Harry, Henry Rollins and more.
The late songwriter and founding guitarist with punk icons the New York Dolls died Jan. 13 following a battle with cancer. He was 69.
A long list of rock greats will spread the love for Sylvain on Valentine’s Day. Also announced for the online-stream are Earl Slick, Mara Hennessey, Thurston Moore, Glen Matlock and many more.
Sylvain and the New York Dolls came together in 1971, years before the punk movement and glam set charts alight on both sides of the Atlantic.
They set the bar sky-high for punk rock swagger and style, and cut five studio sets, the final Dancing Backward in High Heels dropping in 2011.
