Eminem

Eminem (real name Marshall Mathers) was born in St. Joseph, Mo., and moved back and forth between his birthplace and Detroit during his childhood. His birthday is Oct. 17, 1972, and his height is 5'8". His talent for rhyming led him to build his reputation as a talented aspiring rapper during open-mic contests in Motor City. Em's rise to fame began in 1997, when one of his mixtapes made its way to Dr. Dre, who signed him to Aftermath in 1998. His debut studio album, 'The Slim Shady LP,' dropped in 1999 and peaked at No. 2, while lead single "My Name Is" reached No. 36. Sophomore album 'The Marshall Mathers LP' was a massive hit, holding the No. 1 spot for eight weeks. Single "Lose Yourself" -- from his 2002 biographical film '8 Mile' in which he starred -- became his first Hot 100 No. 1, staying atop the chart for 12 weeks, and won the Grammy for best rap song and Oscar for best original song. Two of his other biggest hits are "Love the Way You Lie" and " The Monster," both featuring Rihanna. Besides Dre and Rih, he has also counted Drake, Lil Wayne, Skylar Grey, 50 Cent, Dido, Beyonce and more as collaborators. Aside from best rap song for "Lose Yourself," he also has Grammys for best rap album ('Slim Shady LP,' 'Marshall Mathers LP,' 'The Eminem Show,' 'Relapse,' 'Recovery,' 'The Marshall Mathers LP 2'), best rap/sung collaboration for "Monster" and more.
