Formed in London in 1968 by Robert Plant, Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones and John Bonham, Led Zeppelin burst out of the gate as intrepid innovators and definers of heavy rock. Mount Olympus-scaled classics like 1969's "Whole Lotta Love," 1971's "Black Dog" and "Stairway to Heaven" earned them a reputation as one of the godfathers of heavy metal.
