Katie is the senior music correspondent at Billboard, where she directs dance music coverage and reports on sustainability as it relates to the music industry. She has been covering dance for more than a decade, first as the senior music writer at LA Weekly, then on the editorial team at Insomniac Events, where she had a front-row seat to the U.S. electronic music explosion of the 2010s. Since joining Billboard in 2019, she has reported on all facets of the global dance scene, with highlights including a cover story on the return of Swedish House Mafia, a cover with genre icons Justice and an in-depth report on Saudi Arabia’s emerging music industry. Katie has reported stories from over a dozen countries and has written extensively about Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival and Burning Man. Her work has appeared in The Guardian, VICE, SPIN, RBMA and many others.
Outside of dance, Katie has interviewed legends like Robert Plant, Bon Jovi and Lenny Kravitz, along with Billboard cover subjects like The Weeknd and Justin Bieber. Her 2023 feature on Israeli/Palestinian boy band as1one was a finalist for a Los Angeles Press Club award. She has a degree in journalism and mass communication from the University of Wisconsin, Madison and, having grown up near Green Bay, Wis., is a devoted Packers fan.
