As the world adapts to a new reality, the 2020 Latin Alternative Music Conference (LAMC) has turned their entire annual conference into a virtual experience.
The five-day event, which began on Tuesday (June 9), celebrates Latin alternative music with educational panels and showcases featuring the industry’s hottest artists, executives, managers and beyond.
The first-ever virtual conference kicked off with a guide on the best TikTok practices, a panel about getting discovered on digital platforms, and a conversation with music executive Walter Kolm and Billboard’s Leila Cobo, to name a few.
Mala Rodriguez, Gaby Moreno, Lido Pimienta and Thee Sinseers, kicked off LAMC’s first showcase presented by peermusic, bringing live entertainment to the conference.
In a room with purple lighting, Spanish hip hop artist Mala Rodriguez sang her songs “Peleadora” and “Like” off of her recent studio album Mala before dropping the empowering “Quien Manda” from her 2013 set, Bruja.

Thee Sinseers, a soulful, R&B group from East Los Angeles, crooned spectators with their live session that included songs “You Keep on Calling,” “Can’t Call Me Baby” and “The Chase.”
“I’m going to be performing a few songs,” Gaby Moreno followed. “Thank you for joining me, I’m happy to be a part of the virtual LAMC.” The Guatemalan artist performed her singles “Intento” and “Lost in a Cloud,” as well as an acoustic rock version of the classic bolero “Quizas, Quizas, Quizas.” “This is a little weird,” she admits, “but I hope to see you in real life, real soon.”
Wrapping up the showcase was Lido Pimienta, who in her ASMR voice said: “Lido Pimienta from her house, from her world, from her life, from her eyes, from here.” From the comfort of her own room, the Colombian-Canadian artist performed and danced to “Para Transcribir (Luna),” “Eso Que Tu Haces,” and “Nada.”
