We, the people, want a music festival that speaks to a diverse range of musical styles and talents. We, the people, want a space that celebrates multi-cultural “otherness” in the face of a homogenized government. We, the people, want to dance and sing under the umbrella of inclusion and acceptance, and we, the people, are gonna get that opportunity when AFROPUNK returns to Brooklyn in 2017.
“We, the people” is the theme of this year’s fest, which makes a landing at Brooklyn’s Commodore Barry Park in Fort Green Friday and Saturday, Aug. 26 and 27. Headliners include Soul II Soul, Sampha, Thundercat, Kaytranada, Dizzee Rascal, Gary Clark Jr., Macy Gray, SZA, Jojo Abot, and more. Check out the recap video from 2016’s celebration, peep the full lineups below, and head over to AFROPUNK online for tickets and more information about the August event and the brand’s expansion into South Africa.
