Ángela Aguilar is blocking out the noise surrounding her whirlwind marriage to Christian Nodal.
In a recent interview with ABC News, the 21-year-old Latin music star spoke out about the rumor mill her relationship set into motion over the summer when the couple tied the knot in July — just two months after the 25-year-old Nodal announced his breakup from Argentine rapper Cazzu, with whom he shares a young daughter.
“I don’t really feel like I have to explain anything to anyone,” Aguilar told ABC in the interview, as shared in a clip premiered exclusively by Rolling Stone on Thursday (Oct. 17). “I think that people are being villainized, and I think people are being badly portrayed. I think that they’re not putting our characters where they should be. They don’t even know 5 percent of the story they’re trying to tell, but that’s OK. ‘Cause that’s what sells.”
The “La llorona” vocalist’s relationship with Nodal has indeed left fans with questions. The two artists have known each other for years, having gone on tour together with Pepe Aguilar — Ángela’s father — in 2018 before collaborating on “Dime Cómo Quieres” in 2020. Years later, rumors of their romance arose within a week of Nodal confirming his split with Cazzu; by the end of July, they were married.

Cazzu spoke out about her feelings on the matter in June, telling fans on Instagram, “Life is not totally beautiful or totally horrible, nor are people completely 100% good or bad … Now let’s turn the page, let’s live and let live.”
Four months later, Ángela tells ABC News that “all the parties at hand are together and united.”
“We’re all on the same page and no one’s heart got broken,” she added, seemingly alluding to Cazzu. “We have a clear consciousness. We’re all OK, we’re all happy, we’re adults. We know how to handle this situation. What you see on social media is not what it is.”
