As the colder months arrive, staying warm and well-dressed is a skill that very few have managed to master. With new streetwear brands popping up everywhere, from the corners of Soho to the pages of Instagram, it’s become harder than usual to pinpoint which brand deserves your coin.
In honor of staying fly this Autumn and Winter, here are five streetwear brands who will have you looking good this season.
Inspired by the heart and spirit of the five boroughs, Only NY is known for its casual, laid-back aesthetic. The 13-year-old brand has remained consistent while paying homage to everything from skate culture to the MTA. For its F/W ‘19 collection, Only NY has leveled up tremendously. Within the five-delivery collection, the brand offers its spin on cold-weather staples such as camo fleeces, color-blocked cords, and water-resistant pants — perfect for snow days.

Blurring the lines where prep meets streetwear, Aimé Leon Dore — helmed by Queens designer Teddy Santis — is taking a more mature route for its F/W ‘19 collection. Think back to when Jay-Z started rapping about “button-ups and crisp jeans” on 2003’s “What More Can I Say?” Influenced by his Greek heritage and grandfather Theodore Santis Sr., the designer has rolled out cashmere sweaters and Italian handcrafted denim to complete the four-year-old brand’s classic uniform: monochromatic t-shirts, sweatpants and hoodies emblazoned with the brand’s logo. Aimé’s new accessories — the popular New Era ALD Yankees fitted hat, smoker’s favorites (grinder, ashtray and rolling papers), and even the 14K Sonny necklace — are the silent killers of the season.

Featuring strong deliveries with brands like Stussy, Vans, Carhartt W.I.P. and Coogi, collaboration is key this season for Patta. With each item in its New York City pop-up in September, the Dutch-based brand paid homage to everything that encompasses the city’s culture — from Bronx rap legend KRS-One to football with its Umbro x Patta jerseys, and a limited edition t-shirt run with local brand Awake and Bronx-based culinary artists Ghetto Gastro. For its exclusive Patta line this season, the brand is staying true to its classic “sports meets street” aesthetic featuring matching tracksuits, football kits, and an entire collection dedicated to getting the bag.

“Art imitates life,” for Alife’s early F/W ‘19 items. Collaborating with the Bronx Museum of Art and renowned artist/photographer Henry Chalfant during the Art vs. Transit exhibit, Alife paid homage to New York’s late 1970s graffiti history with a collection of t-shirts and “Art is not a Crime” hoodie that’s exclusively available at the Bronx Museum of Arts. To commemorate its 20th year, the New York-based streetwear brand curated a collaboration with denim and workwear brand, Lee. It features all-over logo printed cords in a bold cobalt blue and a peach-toned hoodie. On October 17th, Alife dropped more pieces dedicated to the colder seasons. For F/W, Alife has set the tone for those looking to transform into walking pieces of art.

Best known for the vibrant knit beanies everyone from Anderson .Paak to Tyler, the Creator has been rocking, Bricks and Wood — founded by designer Kacey Lynch in 2014 — has since branched out into full apparel. The South Central, Los Angeles-born brand’s “Support Your Homies” hoodie and “Balance” tees have become some of its most popular pieces. It recently collaborated with fellow L.A. line The Hundreds for a collection paying homage to the city’s basketball culture. The capsule collection features jerseys, hoodies, and accessories only in black, green, and grey colorways. Lynch is set to drop more goodies this season — including some of the brand’s classic headgear — later this month.
