One of dance music’s most impactful professional power couples are back, again. This past weekend, Ellie Goulding made an appearance at Calvin Harris‘ set at Ushuaïa in Ibiza to perform their new collaboration, “Free.” Goulding showed up in a flowing white shirt dress and gold face glitter to sing the ethereal vocals — “I’m freeeee! When I’m with you, I”m free” — while Harris worked the decks during the set amid his ongoing residency at the island mega-club.
Based on the video and a preview of the song uploaded to YouTube, “Free” is a high-energy house track heavily outfitted with piano stabs and shimmery synth flourishes. The debut comes days after Harris shared footage of himself and Goulding in the studio working on the song, with Harris raising his arms and making a very “OK yes this is a hit” face as Goulding hits silky notes on the mic.

On Tuesday (July 23), Harris shared even more of the song, revealing a pared down intro focused on Goulding’s vocals.
Dropping this Friday, July 26, the song is the duo’s first collaboration since 2023’s trance track “Miracle,” which spent 25 weeks on the Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart and found the pair performing it at high-profile occasions including Harris’ 2023 Coachella main stage set.
The Scottish producer and U.K. singer/songwriter’s debut collab “I Need Your Love” spent 25 weeks on the Hot 100 in the spring and summer of 2013, peaking at No. 16, with the next year’s “Outside” reaching No. 29 on that same chart.
