The romantic sounds of Beethoven’s “Moonlight Sonata” spoke to the feminine dresses and simultaneously erotically-charged leather harnesses and exposed corset seams at Jason Wu’s spring 2013 show.

Cyndi Lauper brought a vintage energy to the Fashion Week tents as she performed her most famous tune, “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun,” live at Betsey Johnson’s spring show. The girl-powered ’80s track was a perfect accent to the runway collection that celebrated the designer’s 70th birthday. Filled with rainbow confetti, tulle explosions, and Johnson doing the splits on the runway, it was the perfect show for Lauper’s fun-loving songs.
“Blue Jeans” by Lana Del Rey @ Rebecca Minkoff
The gentle melody of Lana Del Rey’s “Blue Jeans” proved to be a beautiful spring anthem, used at several shows throughout New York Fashion Week. Models appeared to float down the catwalk at Rebecca Minkoff‘s show as the shadowy, romantic chorus played.
“I Wanna Be Sedated” by The Ramones @ Anna Sui
Sui heightened her collection’s seductive edge by using the Ramones’ punk classic as a striking, energetic counterpoint. Sui’s creations were buoyed down the runway by the kinetic motion of the song’s beat.
“Rolling in the Deep” remix by Pierre Cardin @ Noon By Noor
Adele’s flirty tune, prevalent at many of last season’s shows, was remixed by Pierre Cardin for Noon by Noor’s spring show. The intimate, magnetic sound was harmonious with the collection’s girly looks and vintage accents.
“Feed Me Diamonds” by MDNR @ Charlotte Ronson
Samantha Ronson mixed a courageous and sexy mix for her sister’s spring show, with songs ranging from Florence + the Machine to Samantha’s own new track. When MDNR’s “Feed Me Diamonds” played, the synthesized beats created a sexualized mood on the runway, accenting the strong feminine silhouettes of the collection.
“Copped It” by The Fall @ Marc Jacobs
The hypnotic rhythms of The Fall’s “Copped It” spoke to the subtly perverse and sharply focused beauty of Jacobs’ spring collection. 1960s-inspired bold graphic striped suits and skirts that fell dangerously-low on the hips seemed to gyrate as The Fall’s unvarnished-yet-salacious mix blared.

The eccentric and unapologetic tempo of this pop punk track revealed the austere beauty and boldness of Prabal Gurung’s spring line. The harsh melodies spoke to the aggressive floral details and strong lines in the collection.
