The first trailer for Clint Eastwood‘s highly anticipated film version of the hit Broadway musicalJersey Boys has debuted online. The clip begins with The Four Seasons singing under a street lamp and follows their rise to performing for cheering crowds.
The trailer shows Bob Gaudio (Erich Bergen) first hearing Frankie Valli’s voice.
“I heard ’em all, but I never heard a voice like Frankie Valli’s. I know I need to write for this voice,” Gaudio tells the audience.
As the band becomes increasingly successful, getting their songs on the radio, performing on TV and being swarmed by adoring fans, one of the members, Tommy DeVito (Vincent Piazza), gets into trouble and starts fighting with Valli (John Lloyd Young).
Eastwood directed and produced the Warner Bros. film, which also stars Christopher Walken. The film was co-produced by Brett Ratner’s RatPac Entertainment and Graham King’s GK Films.
The movie hits theaters on June 20.
