Dirty On Purpose
The first album to be released since the recent death of Wu-Tang Clan rapper Ol’ Dirty Bastard arrives this week via JC Records, a new label formed by his manager Jarred Weisfeld and mother Cherry Jones. “Osirus: The Official Mixtape” sports tracks ODB had been finalizing prior to his death from an overdose of cocaine and a prescription painkiller.
Tracks include opener “Pop Shots” produced by DJ Premier, “High in the Clouds” featuring Black Rob, the infections “Dirty Dirty” featuring Rhymefest, “Stand Up” featuring Wu-Tang colleague Cappadonna and a skit with former Roots member Rahzel.
JC Records plans another album release in March featuring artists associated with ODB, and there are other projects in the works, according to Weisfeld. “Dirty’s legacy will continue though this album, his music, his DVD and his clothing line for all eternity,” he says.
ODB had also been working on his debut album for Roc-A-Fella Records; a label representative says the as-yet-untitled set would be released in the near future.
