Not only is J.Y. Park is one of K-pop’s most-known singers and producers, he’s also one of its biggest executives as CEO and founder of JYP Entertainment who gave the world Wonder Girls, 2PM, miss A and more. The man knows a smart business move when he sees it and for his comeback to the industry, he seemingly played off strategies utilized by some of the pop scene’s biggest stars: The likes of Nicki Minaj, Meghan Trainor and, heck, even PSY.
One of the best parts of PSY’s “Gangnam Style” and “Gentleman” videos was the rapper’s obsession with staring and screaming at his female co-stars bodies. Now that we’re in an era post-“Anaconda” and “All About That Bass,” the music video for Park’s new single, “Who’s Your Mama?,” plays off a similar sentiment and hilarity, but the focus being all about the booty with Park infatuated by gals with tiny waits and voluptuous bottoms. Watch above as he loses all chill staring at apple-bottomed girls dance around him, run on the treadmill and ride bicycles. Park is much more handsome and toned than PSY, so it all doesn’t come off as ridiculous, but is still a playful way for the 43-year-old to have a little fun.
The funky track boasts some of the slickest lyrics in recent K-pop (“With such a tiny waist and a big hip/ It’s so hard to find pants that fit”) in this bumpin’ ode to the hourglass that’s packed with addictive hooks.
Rising female rapper Jessi — who fits the description of the girl Park’s singing about to a T — lays down an all-too-quick verse that showcases her bombastic spitting style, but could very well position her as the next go-to feature MC in K-pop.
“Who’s Your Mama?” is a very fun video with a dollop of sexiness that will certainly entertain an audience past K-pop fans, proven by PSY’s past successes and the world’s recent booty love that made 2014 the Year of the Ass.
