“Saturday, in the park, think it was the fourth of July.” So sang long-haired rock band Chicago in 1972, and so it will be in the Windy City this summer, except the party isn’t going down in just any park. We’re taking this celebration to the beach.
Mamby on the Beach is back and bigger than ever this fourth of July weekend. The multi-genre, two-day festival returns to Oakwood Beach Saturday and Sunday, July 2 and 3, with expanded festival grounds and the addition of a third stage.

Headliners in 2016 include Chet Faker, Milky Chance, Atmosphere, Chromeo, Animal Collective, and Santigold. As in the past, Mamby represents a healthy mix of live acts and DJs, the former boasting performances from hometown-favorite Lupe Fiasco, Tycho, Mayer Hawthorne, Kaytranada, Lido, and more.
The DJ Tent will bring a bit of depth to the shallow beach waters with performance from Tale of Us, Seth Troxler, Loco Dice, Hannah Wants, and more. Wild Belle, Derrick Carter, The Black Madonna, and other local acts will represent the city’s myriad of homegrown talent.

The 40-plus musical acts are the draw, but the beautiful beach is the star. The fun-loving atmosphere will be augmented as well with a custom tiki bar, silent disco yoga, VIP water access, henna tattoo stations, tarot card readings, a “living” art installation, and a variety of food and drink options from some of Chicago’s most popular independent restaurants.
