Filmmakers Joel and Ethan Coen, producer T-Bone Burnett, Immortal Entertainment, and the United Talent Agency will bring together Alison Krauss & Union Station, Gillian Welch, Ralph Stanley, and other artists who performed on Mercury Nashville’s “O Brothe r, Where Art Thou?” soundtrack for a June 13 concert at New York’s Carnegie Hall.
The show — which will also include John Hartford, Norman Blake, Dan Tyminski, Chris Thomas King, the Fairfield Four, the Whites, and the Cox Family — is expected to be th e first of several such performances in the U.S. this year. A 2002 tour is in the planning stages.
The artists performed the album in front of an audience for the first time last May, at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium. Lost Highway/Mercury Nashville is planning the release of a live concert and documentary film of that concert, shot by famed documentarian D.A. Pennebaker (“Don’t Look Back”). Both are to be titled “Down From the Mountain.” Release dates for both projects have yet to be finalized.
