Ozzy Osbourne is returning to Ozzfest two weeks earlier than expected. Osbourne planned to miss 11 shows to be with his wife Sharon, who is undergoing chemotherapy treatment for cancer. “After attending his wife Sharon’s first chemotherapy treatment, [Ozzy] nearly passed out and had to be taken to a recovery room,” reads a statement from the Osbournes’ publicist. “Sharon now realizes that Ozzy is better off on the road so she’s shipped him back out to finish Ozzfest.”
Ozzy will be back onstage Aug. 7 outside of Detroit and will only miss two performances: Saturday (Aug. 3) in Columbus, Ohio, and Sunday in Cleveland. System Of A Down will headline the weekend shows. A live album from the tour has been pushed from its original Aug. 27 release date to Sept. 3, with a tracklist yet to be confirmed.
In other news from the Osbournes camp, daughter Kelly is in discussions to appear in the remake of the 1976 Disney hit “Freaky Friday” and contribute to the soundtrack. The film, which is scheduled to begin shooting in September, stars Lindsay Lohan in the lead role of a girl who switches places with her mother, played by Annette Bening.
