Brooklyn rapper Desiigner, currently this close to a possible first Hot 100 number one for the song “Panda,” has signed a co-publishing deal with SONGS Music Publishing. The pact was clinched between SONGS president Ron Perry and Desiigner’s manager Zana Ray, Good Music’s Steven Victor and attorney Bob Celestin.
The rapper’s debut hit pounced 5-2 this week on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart, thanks in part to 28.5 million overall domestic streams and 12.9 million on-demand clicks. The digital buzz for “Panda” also helped it rise to No. 1 on the Streaming Songs and On-Demand Songs charts. As previously reported, more than half of the track’s streams are from non-Vevo YouTube views (an official video is in the works).
