Rising Los Angeles-based producer Rinzen is primed to teleport listeners to new dimensions with his debut EP Forbidden City, dropping October 13 via deadmau5‘s mau5trap label. The tweet-happy electronic veteran even co-signed the youngblood, calling his talents “snazzy.”
“I’m thrilled to be releasing my debut EP with mau5trap,” Rinzen says. “deadmau5 was a seminal influence in my electronic music upbringing.”
Launching with his first remix of Giorgio Moroder’s “Good For Me” (featuring vocalist Karen Harding) at the top of the year, and first original track “Renegade” via mau5trap in March, the three-track Forbidden City truly allows for the burgeoning artist to blend his cinematic sound design with forward-thinking house and techno production, which haunts and enchants in equal measure.
“Forbidden City is a concept EP built around the idea of stumbling upon a sacred temple in the forest,” explains Rinzen. “For me, it’s the first chance to show the true vision behind Rinzen, which is to present entire worlds. I want each Rinzen project, whether it be an EP or live show, to be centered around a different world, and then to be able to tell a story within that world.”
