Sorry if we’re sweating, it’s just that this music video from TroyBoi and Nigerian singer Adekunle Gold is hotter than a bonfire in July.
“Tranquilizer” is a sensual, downtempo synth hitter perfect for slow grinding on the dance floor. It’s subtle, with booming drum hits in all the right places, and AG lets his words hang loose like he’s caught under a spell. There’s even a super-sexual halftime break in the middle, so your inner-freak is destined to get down.
As if you needed any inspiration for how to party with this, director Chris Moreno sets the scene with a surfside music video. We watch as men and women fall in love at a nocturnal beach jam. The seductive dance moves and stunning scenery push the whole mood over the edge. Also, TroyBoi appears with his shirt unbottoned. Sweating and swerving your hips is the only natural reaction.
“When I was making, ‘Tranquilizer’ I fully embraced my Nigerian heritage for inspiration,” TroyBoi tells Billboard Dance. “It’s a special song to me so therefore deserved a special video. I really wanted to bring the vibe of song to life, and with the help of Chris Moreno and Edgar Esteves, they made it possible.”
“Tranquilizer” was originally released back in November, but the music video doesn’t see full release until Thursday. Lucky for you, we have the early exclusive below, because something this hot deserves to be uncaged.
