Coldplay have made a habit of throwing the odd cover into the tightly scripted set of their record-setting Music of the Spheres world tour. But during Sunday night’s show at Accor Stadium in Sydney, Australia — the final gig in a four-night stand at the 83,500-capacity venue — they busted out an unexpected take on a Travis Scott song that had the “Sicko Mode” MC heaping praise on the group.
“‘Goosebumps,’ that’s my favorite Travis Scott song,” Coldplay singer Chris Martin is seen saying in a clip of the moment in which he busts into the Kendrick Lamar-featuring song that appeared on Scott’s sophomore studio album, 2016’s Birds in the Trap Sing McKnight.
“I get those goosebumps every time,” Martin crooned while running up the stage with an acoustic guitar behind his back as guitarist Jonny Buckland ripped off a rockin’ solo. The unlikely cover caught the rager-in-chief’s attention, with the rapper complimenting the take on his track, writing on X, “This got it,” along with a goat emoji.

“Goosebumps” gained notoriety in 2017 when Scott set a Guinness World Record when he performed the track 15 times in a row at a show in Cleveland; the marathon run beat the previous record he’d set by playing the song 14 times in a row a week earlier. Scott has shouted out Coldplay several times in lyrics, including on 2016’s “Way Back” (“Flew with that sound n–ga, got that Coldplay”) and then again on 2023’s “Til Further Notice” (“I been bumpin’ more Coldplay, the world cold as s–t.”) In addition, fans have picked up on the mutual attraction, with one remixer throwing up inventive mash-ups such as “A Sky Full of Goosebumps” and “Viva La Goosebumps.”
The Music of the Spheres tour will kick off a three-night stand at Auckland, New Zealand’s Eden Park stadium on Wednesday (Nov. 13) before taking a month off and returning to the road on Jan. 9 with a four-gig stand at Zayed Sports City Stadium in Abu Dhabi in the UAE.
