Kaskade collects his second No. 1 on Dance/Electronic Albums as “Atmosphere” enters atop the list with 19,000, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The set also debuts on The Billboard 200 at No. 16, a new career high for the act. “Atmosphere” is the follow-up to Kaskade’s “Fire & Ice” which debuted at peaked at No. 1 on Dance/Electronic Albums in the Nov. 12, 2011 issue, with 20,000 units. “Atmosphere’s” title track climbs 31-23 on Dance/Electronic Songs, where the DJ also accumulates two debuts: “Last Chance” (No. 25 ) and “Feeling The Night” (No. 49). “Atmosphere,” on which Kaskade sings vocals, also elevates to a new high on Dance/Mix Show Airplay (4-3), where he has charted 18 songs (including three No. 1s), the third-most of any artist. Only Rihanna (24) and David Guetta (27) have more).
‘NIGHT’S’ MOVES: “Stay The Night,” a new track from the deluxe edition of Zedd’s “Clarity” album (Sept. 24), rides powerful first-week sales (70,000 units) into two top 10 debuts: No. 7 on Dance/Electronic Songs and No. 4 on Dance/Electronic Digital Songs. The collaboration between Zedd and Paramore’s Hayley Williams is one of two new original tracks on the album, which additionally contains two new remixes of tracks by Skrillex and Empire of the Sun. “Stay The Night” appears to be primed for mainstream success as it also the Hot Shot Debut at No. 51 on the Billboard Hot 100.
‘BONELESS REVOLUTION’: Steve Aoki, Chris Lake, and Tujamo also achieve new career-best sales weeks with “Boneless” (14,000 units). The DJ team pierces Dance/Electronic Songs at No. 19 and Dance/Electronic Digital Songs at No. 13. The title track from Diplo’s “Revolution” EP (Oct. 8) debuts at No. 20 on Dance/Electronic Songs, garnering points almost entirely from sales (18,000 units). “Revolution” gives Diplo his first top 10 (No. 10) on the chart and his best track sales week yet.
EARLY ‘WORK’: Britney Spears makes an early impact on Dance/Electronic Songs with “Work B**ch!,” (No. 16), snatching 1,236 plays (10 million in audience) with only two days’ worth of radio airplay. The only other list the title appears on prior to its first full week of availability is Hot 100 Airplay, where it enters at N0. 69. Expect a top 10 (possibly top five) rise next issue on Dance/Electronic Songs with a full seven days of sales, airplay and streaming in tow for the track.
SWELLING ‘APPLAUSE’: Lady Gaga, already having spent three weeks at No. 1 on Dance/Electronic Songs, is back on the upswing with “Applause” (3-2), collecting both Streaming (3.7 million, up 16%) and Digital (184,000 units, up 15%) gainer honors. On Dance/Club Play Songs, Gaga is the Greatest Gainer for the third week in a row (each of its eligible chart weeks) as it rises 5-2. “Applause” holds the runner-up slot on Dance/Club Play Songs behind Selena Gomez, who tallies a fifth consecutive No. 1 (and sixth overall) with “Slow Down.” Remixes from Danny Verde, Chew Fu, Smash Mode, among others, are powering the song’s club play.
