Niall Horan’s first single, “This Town,” hit No. 1 on the real-time Billboard + Twitter Trending 140 chart Thursday (Sept. 29) after releasing the digital track and the song’s music video through Capitol Records.

The Billboard + Twitter Trending 140 chart measures the real-time acceleration of conversation around artists and their music on Twitter.
“This Town” first appeared on the Trending 140 chart at 11 a.m. ET after Horan announced the song on his social-media channels. It remained the top song for six hours.
Many One Direction fans have been anticipating solo releases from members of the band, who announced they were going on hiatus in January. Horan is the second member of the group to release music as a solo act, following in the footsteps of Zayn, who has already hit No. 1 on both the Billboard Hot 100 (with “Pillowtalk”) and the Billboard 200 (with his debut album Mind of Mine).
Horan has not announced a release date for a forthcoming album.
