Sophie’s Catalog Up 2,795% in Streams Following Death
In all, streams of Sophie’s music totaled 2.5 million in the U.S. from Jan. 30-Feb. 1.
Streams of late electronic artist Sophie’s catalog of music skyrocketed 2,795% in the days following the artist’s Jan. 30 death, according to MRC Data.
From Jan. 30-Feb. 1, Sophie’s catalog drew 2.5 million U.S. on-demand streams, leaping from 87,000 streams from Jan. 27-29.
In particular, Sophie’s streams totaled 1.2 million on Jan. 30.
“Immaterial,” from Sophie’s 2017 full-length Oil of Every Pearl’s Un-Insides, was the most-streamed song of the group, with 368,000 listens from Jan. 30-Feb. 1, a 2,706% jump from 13,000 Jan. 27-29.
“It’s Okay to Cry” (237,000 streams) and “Faceshopping” (209,000), both also from Oil of Every Pearl’s Un-Insides, follow.
Further gains could be reflected on the Billboard charts dated Feb. 13, which comprise the tracking week of Jan. 29-Feb. 4.
Sophie died Jan. 30 at age 34, after a fall in Athens, Greece.
