The new supergroup debuts at No. 2.
K-pop supergroup SuperM makes its maiden appearance on Billboard’s Social 50 chart, debuting at No. 2 on the ranking dated Sept. 28.
The Social 50 is powered by data tracked by music analytics company Next Big Sound and ranks the most popular artists on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and Wikipedia. The chart’s methodology blends weekly additions of friends/fans/followers with artist page views and engagement. The chart’s latest tracking week ended Sept. 19.
A seven-piece group featuring members of Exo, NCT and SHINee, SuperM debuts with 1.2 million Twitter reactions and 188,000 Twitter mentions in the week ending Sept. 19, according to Next Big Sound.
The group’s social media accounts have been posting concept photos and videos of its members while gearing up for its first EP, a self-titled release scheduled for Oct. 4. It’s the top debut for a K-pop group since BTS, who started at No. 1 on the ranking dated Oct. 29, 2016.
