‘Greatest Showman’ Has Its Greatest U.K. Sales Week, Drake Still No. 1 on Songs

The soundtrack of The Greatest Showman (Atlantic/Warner) delivers its strongest U.K. sales week yet to start a sixth week atop the album chart. Drake‘s “God’s Plan” (Cash Money/Republic/Universal) extends its run at the singles summit to four weeks.
The Official Charts Company reports combined units for the movie score of 51,000, of which 70% were physical and download purchases. That was more than three times the total of its nearest rival, Ed Sheeran‘s ÷ (Divide) (Asylum/Warner Music), which marks its 50th week in the top ten with a 3-2 climb.
The album chart’s highest new entry is Liverpool rock outfit The Wombats‘ Beautiful People Will Ruin Your Life (The Wombats). Its No. 3 debut matches their previous best peak, with 2011’s This Modern Glitch. The new set is the week’s bestselling vinyl album.
Two further new entries complete the top five: U.K. rapper Mist‘s Diamond In The Dirt (Sickmade) opens at a career-best No. 4, and London rap artist Fredo’s second mixtape, Tables Turn (Since 93) is in at No. 5. There’s also a No. 6 start for Franz Ferdinand‘s Always Ascending (Domino).
The Drake single, his third U.K. No. 1, has weekly streams of 6.7 million. Its continuing supremacy means that “These Days” (Asylum/Warner Music) by Rudimental featuring Jess Glynne, Macklemore and Dan Caplen spends a second week at No. 2. The Greatest Showman effect is also felt on the singles chart, with a 6-3 climb for “This Is Me” (Atlantic/Warner) by Keala Settle and the Greatest Showman Ensemble.
Dua Lipa‘s “IDGAF” (Warner Bros./Warner Music) is at No. 4 again, while Ramz’ “Barking” (Polydor/Universal) dips 3-5. Portugal. The Man’s “Feel It Still” (Atlantic/Warner Music) improves 9-6. There’s an 18-8 climb for Liam Payne & Rita Ora‘s “For You” (Capitol/Universal), the theme song from Fifty Shades Freed.
